Static Analysis. There
are many situations where response
or deformation is not in proportion
to the applied load. Maybe the
material yields, or the structure
might buckle in a non linear manner.
Some materials, such as rubber
are inherently non-linear, especially
at larger displacements.
Modal
Analysis or NVH (Noise,
Vibration and Harshness). All
objects have natural (or resonant)
frequencies, which if excited,
can cause NVH concerns. A normal
modes analysis is used to predict
the mode shapes and the frequency
values for individual components
or complete assemblies.
